Hey guys, i'm having a problem with my computer when playing COD4 multi on our server. I can play some nights fine , but others I will be half way through a game and the game freezes. The monitor then shuts down (monitor going to sleep). The computer is still switched on but frozen and I have to shut it down manually.

It doesn't happen when using the computer normally only when gaming.

I thought it might be overheating but i've cleaned the fan etc.. ANY IDEAS GUYS 'Cos its cheesing me off now as it has happened quite a few times. last night being the lastest.

When I go back onto COD4 a notice screen appears and says that the game was not shut down properly and do I want to play in safe mod. I say NO is that right???

hi B, I think my son updated the drivers because we were having picture problems on bad Company 2. he updated them from an on line site and it cured the problem. I have now taken bad company 2 off the computer to free up some space.

Hi Twiz,

What graphics card type are you using mate? ATI or Nvidia?
Have you overclocked your card?
It could be that your card is overheating, I used to have 2 x powercolor cards are they would ver easily over heat and do exactly what you have said.

Otherwise you can roll back your drivers to the previous version!

Just some thoughts for you

Mike

Hey, guys still having problems with COD4 crashing. i have an Nvixdia GeForce 8800GTs driver installed and my son has downloaded the latest updates so hopefully this will cure the problem.. i have read on the internet that Xfire can also cause this problem so i may try playing without using xfire. See how it goes.

Make sure you have the legit Nvidia download site.
